Hi, thanks for using PetCoach!

Sadly a lot of skin conditions can look the same. With out seeing a picture or examining Rocky it will be impossible to give you the exact diagnosis. Even on exam there are still a list of possibilities, usually requiring some testing to help rule things out. Causes of focal hair loss are: skin infection from bacteria or yeast over growth, demodex (non-contagious mite) or ring worm. Skin infections are diagnosed on exam or tape/impression cytology under a microscope and are treated with antibiotics and/or anti-yeast oral medications and sometime a medicated shampoo. Demodex is diagnosed on skin scrape and looking under a microscope. Treatment is easier now because the oral flea and tick medications (nexgard, bravecto and simparica) also have been found to kill demodex. Ringworm is diagnosed on culture and is treated with anti-fungals and lyme sulfur dips. It is the most frustrating to treat.

I hope this helps but ideally you need to have Rocky seen by a vet and some testing done to get the diagnosis. I wish Rocky a speedy recovery!
