My cat is panting all of a sudden and his nose and pads of his feet are very warm. I had someone at my house cleaning my carpets that he was scared of so he his behind the dryer. Could this be a reaction to his fear or should I be concerned he got in to some sort of chemical?

This is very concerning. It is really rare that cats open mouth breathe. If the dryer was turned on, he could be over heated. If so, I would put some alcohol on his paw pads and on the tips of his ears, and then take him to your local vet to ensure he is okay. If not, then it could be anxiety related. Make sure his gums are pink. If he doesn't stop soon, I would take him to your vet. Most cats don't respond to stress in this manner so it makes me really concerned something else could be going on.
