Hi my chihuahua gave birth almost 4 weeks ago and she is no longer interested in feeding them herself anymore. I’ve tried bottle feeding both of them and neither one will take to the bottle. I then used a tiny Syringe to try feeding them that way little bits at a time and they both took to that just a little bit but I don’t know how to continue feeding them that way and knowing how much they’re getting if they’re getting enough so how do I know? And how often would they need to eat that way?

Hello. At 4 weeks of age, puppies should be transitioning to solid food. I like to use a ground or pate type canned dog food ( does not have to say for puppies ), & mix a little Esbilac nursing or weaning formula into it. Offer this 4-6 times a day. You can also continue to offer the puppies the bottle, again 4-6 times a day will be adequate. The puppies should be feeding on their own by 6 weeks of age. Thank you for using PetCoach.
