Took my dog in this week to the vet because she was throwing up and hacking a lot. she gave her some radiopaque and took X Rays later in the day for a bowel obstruction. She stated that she didn’t like how quickly the radiopaque was moving and she thought there might be a blockage in the intestines. She kept her overnight and gave her fluid and medicine to “pass” the possible obstruction. She called today and she she passed a lot of leaves and grass. Would this really cause an obstruction?

Yes, a large pile of anything can cause an obstruction if even partial and cause an ileus where the intestines cramp and do not push things along because they are unable to digest and break certain materials down. The leaves and grass just made a ball with stomach acid and got tangled into a larger enough particle that made it difficult to pass
