Hi! I just purchased my puppy yesterday she came with vet papers saying she had her shots, but it seems she only has her distemper. What other shots does she need at 8 weeks and a estimate on how much will it cost.

Hi there. It looks like the vaccination she received was a DAPP vaccine (distemper, adenovirus, parvo, and parainfluenza), which is perfect - that's the main one she needs at this age. She will need her next booster in 3-4 weeks.

In the meantime, I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow or Monday for a general check-up. Most of the time, a fecal exam is recommended at the first visit to check for any remaining parasites that might still be present, as well as starting on flea and heartworm prevention depending on where you live. Your veterinarian can discuss whether she needs any other vaccinations, such as Bordetella (kennel cough), leptospirosis, or Lyme disease depending her lifestyle and what illnesses are prevalent in your area.

Prices can vary quite a bit in different parts of the country and from one clinic to another, so if cost is a concern, I would recommend calling around to some local clinics to ask about their prices. To give you a general idea, in my area, an initial puppy visit for an exam and fecal check would run around $70-100, not including any additional vaccines or medications that might be recommended.
