Diet is a very controversial subject int he dog world, There's raw diets where pretty much you feed the dog foods that it was designed to eat like raw meats, vegetables, free of corn and fillers. But it can be a bit pricey, trade off is your dog will be healthier, healthy dog means less visits to the vet. But not everyone had the time or money to feed raw, so then you can feed commercial food. What I would suggest is that which ever you decide do your homework, if you decide to feed commercial food then feed the best food you can afford and that your dog does well with. I use to feed Royal Canin to my Belgian Malinois and he did very well, his coat was great and overall he was really healthy. I use dogfoodadvisor.com they do reviews of commercially available foods.
