My rabbit is going to be a year in 3 days and I’m scared to get her spayed because I got my last bunny neutered and you can’t even believe how heart broken I am! She’s breathing loudly sometimes and that scares me, also the vet said in September that she can’t get spayed after March. Please help me! Thank you SO much for your help!

I realize how scared you must be. Anesthetic deaths are very traumatic. Rabbits are higher risk anesthesia patients in general. They are prone to having heart arrhythmias when stressed. Even the very best doctors can lose rabbits under anesthesia. However, there are some doctors who do more rabbit anesthesia than others. You may want to visit with your veterinarian about the type of monitoring and prevention they do for the bunnies. I recommend having an IV catheter, monitoring heart rate, oxygen saturation,’respiratory rate, and temperature. If your city has a House Rabbit Society they often have a list of veterinarians that work on a lot of rabbits. I hope this gives you some good information on how to proceed. There is always risk,
You can not avoid that. But if you have a veterinarian that does their best to limit that risk and you have a good relationship with that veterinarian then I think you are in the best possible situation. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
