My 3-year-old Papillon/Pomeranian has a mild yeast infection. Daisy is on a Raw diet (BOLD-chicken). We go to the groomer every 2 weeks to get her nails trimmed. I believe that Daisy may be bringing home the yeast infection on her feet, after visiting the groomer. Could this be true? Daisy has scratched her nose raw, and I can’t get it cleared up. Can you offer any suggestions to help my Daisy? Thanks Louise

The type of yeast that cause pyoderma (Malassezia) are present everywhere and can be found on a normal dog's skin so it is not something that Daisy would be picking up at the groomer. Daisy could have an allergy or even a skin parasite that is predisposing her to recurrent fungal infections. I would recommend having your vet examine or rechecking Daisy to discuss the next step to determine what the underlying cause might be.
